My experience with the Award has been amazing. From the New Award Leader’s Training to the actual execution of the Award in my centre, I have enjoyed continued guidance from the award office.
Our attempt at delivering the Award as a school has been a great learning experience. It has entailed understanding and executing our role. As an Award Leader my duty includes; running the Award for my school, monitoring, discussing, encouraging and motivating participants to reach their goals and signing them off. This has been made possible not only by my team’s dedication but also through the tremendous support the Award office provides.
The major high point of our achievement was when 79/81 registered Award participants were decorated at the Award ceremony. Even though it wasn’t our desired 100% target, we are pleased to see the vast majority of registered participants achieve the Award within the set time.
My team and students especially look forward to the adventurous journeys. While it is physically demanding, it has served as an opportunity for the participants to develop self-reliance, independence, teamwork and leadership skills.
Largely, the Award has given the much-deserved recognition to students’ endeavours outside of classroom. It does feels great to be recognized for what one enjoys doing – skill acquisition. Definitely, the habit of exercising needs be a life style and a training that fosters this is laudable. Being a contributing member of one’s community is the very fabric of the Olashore School Leadership programme and the Award helps to promote this spirit in our students. Little wonder why it has become so popular among our senior students.
The joy and honour of accomplishment the Award ceremony brings is second to none. I count it a privilege indeed to be part of a movement that shapes young people into well rounded and balanced individual.
